SmoothGlo is a skin rejuvenation treatment that combines Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and radiofrequency (RF) microneedling in a single session. This approach allows our skilled team to address surface-level concerns and deep structural changes within the skin. At Cosmedic Derm, Dr. Shauna Diggs and our team use SmoothGlo to improve your overall tone, texture, and firmness.
What Is SmoothGlo?
SmoothGlo is a non-surgical treatment that uses IPL and RF microneedling. IPL targets pigment and vascular irregularities on the skin’s surface, while RF microneedling delivers controlled thermal energy beneath the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production. SmoothGlo is ideal for patients looking to address discoloration, early signs of aging, and changes in skin texture. It can be customized to different skin types and concerns, helping you achieve your aesthetic goals.
How Does SmoothGlo Work?
SmoothGlo works by addressing multiple layers of the skin during a single appointment. During the first step, IPL emits light pulses that attract and break down excess melanin and hemoglobin. This process helps reduce brown spots, redness, and visible capillaries. RF microneedling is then performed using fine needles that create controlled micro-injuries in the skin while delivering radiofrequency energy into the dermis. This stimulates collagen and elastin production, which leads to gradual improvements in firmness and texture.
What Does SmoothGlo Treat?
SmoothGlo is used to address several skin concerns, including:
- Sunspots, age spots, and pigmentation
- Facial redness and broken vessels
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Uneven skin tone
- Enlarged pores
- Rough or crepey skin texture
- Mild skin laxity
- Dull skin
SmoothGlo Procedure
One of our skincare experts will begin by cleansing your skin and placing protective eyewear. The IPL treatment is performed first, delivering light pulses to the targeted areas. Once this step is complete, a topical numbing cream may be applied to increase comfort for the microneedling portion of the treatment. RF microneedling is performed using a handheld device that creates small micro-injuries while delivering heat energy to stimulate the dermis. The procedure typically takes 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. The treatment requires minimal downtime, and you can return to most activities shortly after your visit.
SmoothGlo Results
Mild redness, swelling, and increased pigmentation are common during the first 24 to 48 hours. Flaking may occur as the pigmented areas shed. Texture and firmness improvements develop gradually over several weeks as new collagen forms. For best results, most patients undergo a series of three to four sessions spaced around one month apart. Results are long-lasting when proper skincare and sun protection are used. Maintenance treatments can help preserve improvements.
